    The state of Uttarakhand came into existence on 09 November 2000, after being separated from the erstwhile state of Uttar Pradesh. The order was passed on the order dated 5.08.2003 of the Government of India, separating the Uttarakhand Waqf Board from the erstwhile State of Uttar Pradesh, which will be under the control of the Uttarakhand Waqf Board on 2032 Sunni and 21 Shia Waqf properties falling under the State of Uttarakhand. . In pursuance of the order passed under sub-section (2) of section 102 of the Waqf Act 1995, Uttarakhand Waqf Board was constituted under Notification No. 2416 of September 06, 2003, after which the work was started by the Uttarakhand Waqf Board. In the election held on 08.11.2004 for the first Chairman of the Board by the members of the Board appointed / nominated by the State Government, Chaut Raees Ahmed was elected as Chairman and the tenure of the first Board was from 08.11.2004 to 25.12.2007. The Uttarakhand Waqf Board was superseded by the notification No. 1166 dated 26 December 2007 issued by the Government exercising the powers of Section 99 of the Waqf Act 1995 and the District Magistrate, Dehradun was appointed as the Administrator of the Board. District Magistrate, Dehradun / Administrator, Uttarakhand Waqf Board whose tenure was from 26.12.2007 to 22.06.2010. Shri Haji Rao Sharafat Ali became the second Chairman of the Board, whose tenure was from 01.07.2010 to 25.04.2012, he was relieved from the post by the Government. The third Chairman of the Board was Shri Rao Kale Khan who was the Chairman of the Board from 16.02.2013 to 21 June 2015. Thus, the second board completed its term. After the termination of the term of the Second Board on 21.06.2015, District Magistrate, Dehradun was appointed as Administrator of the Board for the smooth conduct of the Board's functions by notification No. 353 dated 26 May 2016 issued by the Government of Minority Welfare, Uttarakhand. He was the Administrator of the Board from 26.05.2016 to 04.12.2016.
